Handprint Shirts
Miss Marli had a beautiful idea inspired by Louie and Aria, who had wanted to paint her shirt a few weeks ago. Together, the children helped to create our new Monday uniforms, giving them the opportunity to contribute to something meaningful within our Little Leaf Learners community.

The Start
Using watercolours, the children carefully stained white shirts with bright, colourful patterns of their own choosing. Some children experimented with brush strokes and lines, while others enjoyed watching the way the watercolour paint spread and blended across the fabric.

Process
Through this process, the children explored cause and effect, noticing how adding more water changed the intensity and movement of the colours. Theo chose to paint his hands and excitedly suggested making a handprint on the shirt. This idea quickly sparked interest from the other children.

Child-Led
One by one, each child had the opportunity to place their individual handprint onto the shirts. As they pressed their hands down and lifted them to reveal their mark, there were many smiles and proud moments. This experience allowed the children to express their creativity and individuality, while also contributing to a shared group project.

Why?
By adding their handprints, the children were symbolically leaving their mark on something that represents our group community. It created a sense of belonging and ownership, as the shirts will now be worn by Miss Mia and Miss Marli every Monday as a reminder of the children who helped create them. Once the shirts were complete, the children proudly gathered around to admire their work, excited to know that their creations will become a special part of our Monday routine.
