Succulent Making
In this hands-on Little Leaf Learners workshop, children stepped into the role of young gardeners as they created their very own succulent plant to take home. Through guided exploration and conversation, we discovered the parts of a plant, the importance of soil, sunlight and water, and how gardens support our environment.

Our Succulent Workshop invited children into a calming, hands-on gardening experience where creativity and nature came together.
"They're not just playing in nature, they are: Learning, creating, sensing, believing, relaxing, exploring, observing, wondering, connecting, discovering, appreciating, understanding, experimenting.”
- Penny Whitehouse
Each child decorated their own pot using a variety of natural and creative materials before carefully planting a hardy succulent inside.
The succulents were lovingly grown within our local community, with any remaining plants thoughtfully replanted into the Little Leaf Learners garden bed to continue nurturing and giving back to the environment.
Through this hands-on experience, children explored important sustainability practices while strengthening fine motor skills, expressing creativity, and engaging with a range of natural materials and textures.

Interacting with soil significantly boosts a child's health and development. Exposure to healthy soil diversifies their microbiome, strengthening their immune system while reducing the risk of allergies and asthma. It also enhances sensory development, builds motor skills, and naturally reduces stress
Nurturing creativity, responsibility and a sense of pride as children care for something they have created themselves — all while deepening their connection to nature and the garden.
Meaningful, real-world learning.
